COVID 19 and Rafting

Fresh air, the great outdoors and whitewater rafting with friends and family; it’s time to shake off the winter blues and get outside!

Memorial Day Weekend is almost here and that means the kickoff for our peak rafting season! We are sprucing up the outpost and the guides are ready to go to work after a long extended off season due to COVID 19. We look forward to having you join us for our 24th rafting season at OAC!

Our opening date will be May 23, 2020 and as always our goal at Ocoee Adventure Center is to have fun on the river and keep our customers and staff’s safety as our highest priority.

Expanded Safety Measures

Expanded safety measures are in order this year and we will be operating under COVID 19 guidelines from the Tennessee Department of Health and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. If you have been with us before you will notice several changes this year to include:

Electronic waivers:

You will need to sign your waivers online when you make your reservations so there will be no handling of paper from you to us at the outpost.

Screening and Temperature check:

When you arrive at the outpost we will be asking you a series of questions concerning your health and any possible COVID 19 contact potential. We also will be taking your temperature with a “No Touch” thermometer. If your temperature is 100.4 or above you will not be allowed to participate and will be directed to seek medical attention.

Distancing:

OAC will be maintaining distancing between groups at the outpost and on the bus trips to the river. We are operating a new trip schedule with more time between trips so that trips don’t overlap at the outpost. We will limit the number of people in the store and restrooms and the store will have separate doors for entrance and exit. OAC will block off some of the parking immediately in front of the outpost to maintain group separation.

Safety Briefings:

Smaller trips will have safety briefings at the river only. Larger trips will have outpost briefings with group separation.

Car Keys:

We still want you to lock all your valuables in your car and bring us the Keys but this year we will be “Zapping” the keys with an Infrared UV-C light to kill all bacteria and viruses.

Employee Screening:

Each day we will be checking the temperature of all our employees and asking a battery of health/exposure questions.

Buses and equipment:

After each use/trip, buses and all equipment will be cleaned and sanitized with approved disinfectant.

Bus ride:

A mask or bandanna is strongly recommended for the bus ride to and from the river.

It is necessary to do these things in order to ensure we all stay as safe as possible, but mental health is important too!

It is time to get out of the house, get outside, get splashed in the face, laugh, and have some fun in the fresh air!!!
