Great Way To Finish Your Day of Rafting

Novinophobia is the fear of running out of wine. Don’t let this happen to you! If you’re vacationing in the Ocoee River area you can be sure not to run out of wine. Because you can check out the wines at Nottely River Valley Vineyards and stay stocked up for your trip to the mountains! The drive from Ocoee Adventure Center to Nottely River Valley Vineyards is breathtaking. Surrounded by the Appalachian mountains, the scenic trip alone is worth your time. As on either side of the journey, you have some of the most unique opportunities available in our area, Ocoee River rafting on one and fine wines on the other!

Location

Located in Murphy, North Carolina, Nottely Valley Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery established in 2008. The vineyard and winery occupy 10 acres of a 93 acre farm that has been in the family since 1820.

Minimal Intervention

Nottely River Valley Vineyards strives for minimal intervention throughout the wine making process and fashions their wines after the “old world style, hand-crafted” wines of Europe. Their first harvest was in the fall of 2011 and that vintage was released November 1, 2012.

Geology: Mineral Content and PH

Nottely River Valley Vineyards is blessed with unique terrain. Sitting on top of a fault line, the vineyard occupies a terrace that was the former bed of the Nottely River that now flows in the valley 100 feet below. Being in an inner river valley, cool foggy mornings provide the grapes with moist air. An average daily 25 degree difference in temperature during the growing season and full sun exposure until sunset produces wines that are bright, crisp, high in acid and mineral content unique to this place!

High Density Plantings and Vintages

The vineyard consist of high density plantings of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Primitivo, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and the French Hybrids – Chambourcin, Chardonel, & Seyval Blanc. NRVV offers red, white, and blush vintages from 2011-2014. Visit their website or call to inquire about their most current offerings!

In season, the Tasting Room hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 12 PM to 6 PM. Unable to drop by during these hours? Call for an appointment!

Wine- the way it was meant to be….
