Was a movie filmed on the Ocoee River in Polk County Tennessee?

Blood Money Movie

The 2017 American crime thriller Blood Money was filmed in part on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. The movie follows Victor (Ellar Coltrane), Lynn (Willa Fitzgerald) and Jeff (Jacob Artist). After they stumble upon four bags of money. However the money belongs to a criminal named Miller (John Cusack). As they try to escape with the money mayhem begins. Jeff is fatally injured during the confrontation. Then Victor is shot by Lynn. In the end, Lynn is the only survivor and takes the money.

River Setting

The beauty of the Ocoee River makes an ideal setting for Blood Money. And it’s easy to see why the filmmakers chose it. The river is full of rapids, making it an exciting and thrilling place to film. But it also has its peaceful moments. The water is crystal clear water with breathtaking cliffs, making it the perfect backdrop for the movie.

More Than A Movie Set

The Ocoee River is not just for movies, however. It’s also a popular destination for whitewater rafting and other outdoor activities. If you’re looking for an exciting adventure, the Ocoee River is the place to be! Whether you’re looking for a movie experience or a real-life adventure, the Ocoee River is the perfect place to explore.

Sorry Not Deliverance

A common question we hear is was Deliverance filmed on the Ocoee River. But the answer is no! The movie Deliverance shot in 1972 was not filmed on the Ocoee River. Deliverance was shot primarily on the Chattooga River following the state line between Northern Georgia and Western South Carolina. Additional scenes were shot on the steeper sections of the Tallulah River and its deep gorge. Shot over 50 years ago Deliverance certainly helped increase the popularity of whitewater activities.

Nope Wild River Was Next County Over

Wild River was shot during 1959 in nextdoor Bradley County Tennessee and features scenes shot on the Hiwassee River. Mostly shot between Charleston and Cleveland as well as Coon Denton Island in the Hiwassee River. The plot of the movie is about families losing farms to TVA under lakes.

No Banjos On River

So don’t worry you are unlikely to hear banjo music on the Ocoee River. However you might hear some bluegrass music at a nearby venue over a craft beer.
