Ocoee Adventure Center is the perfect family, church or corporate excursion for fun, excitement, team building, and memories that will last forever. You have two main options when rafting the Ocoee River in Tennessee. We are a short ride from Blue Ridge Georgia and your family vacation.
Middle Ocoee whitewater rafting is always a crowd pleaser with plenty of class III family fun. It Consists of 5 miles of continuous class III whitewater. The Middle Ocoee runs 5 days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. During the shoulder seasons before Memorial Day after Labor Day there are just weekend rafting trips. The Middle Ocoee River is the most popular white water rafting destinations in the southeast.
You’ll start your Middle Ocoee white water rafting trip carrying down the ramp beside the beautiful diversion dam. The trip starts off with a bang, with Grumpy’s Ledge and North Shore then continues right through Broken Nose, Double Suck, Double Trouble, Flipper, Table Saw, Diamond Splitter and finishes with a big bang at Hell Hole and Powerhouse. A middle Ocoee River white water rafting trip with the Ocoee Adventure Center wouldn’t be complete without surfing and playing our way down the river. We don’t rush like the other outfitters and we usually spend 2 hours on the river! You get 33% more with OAC than with other Ocoee whitewater rafting companies.
Finally, our premium Ocoee white water rafting trip is the Full Ocoee River Trip. We start out on the Upper Ocoee, whitewater rafting until we reach the lake above the middle Ocoee dam for a great riverside lunch, then continue down the Middle Ocoee River.
The fun begins below Ocoee Dam #3. This section of river is de-watered all but 34 days per year, so there’s a lot of tree growth in the Ocoee riverbed. The first 1.5 miles are relatively easy, class II+ at the hardest, giving the Ocoee white water rafting crew a good chance to learn how to paddle together. This upper portion of the river is also among the most scenic sections of the Ocoee.
Class IV Mikey’s Ledge was named by Rick Covington for the Life Cereal Mikey Likes It TV ad that was popular at the time of his high water trip. The excitement and pace picks up from here through the Olympic Course downstream portion of your Ocoee whitewater rafting trip will really begin. After Mikey’s you’ll move down into Let’s Make a Deal with tow entrance moves to choose from Door #2 and Door #3. Most consider Door #2 to be a more exciting start. At low water the bottom of this rapid is called Blue Hole a popular no release swimming hole. This great Class IV is a warm up for the main event of your Ocoee white water rafting trip through the Olympic Course.
The 1996 Olympic Whitewater Whitewater Canoe/Kayak channel was engineered by TVA. The cannel is narrow so the water feels big and pushy. Thrill seekers will love this section as they paddle hard to make a clean run Highlighted by Godzilla and Humongous the two back to back raft eating hydraulics that generally draw a crowd of spectators. But the Upper Ocoee isn’t quite done with you yet! After the quarter mile of continuous class IV action in the Olympic Course you still have to try to check out of the class IV Roach Motel. Roach Motel is another rapid named by Rick Covington after a really high water run; his muse was the Roach Motel TV ad of the time. Following Roach Motel we’ll stop for a couple more surfs and maybe a swim or body surf before reaching the lunch spot.
We listen to you feedback. As a result we only offer Middle and Full River trips now. We have pulled the Upper Only trips to provide more of what you want! The Middle Ocoee has a lot of action.
